With both squads coming out victorious over the past weekend, the men have now won 10 times in their last 11 outings, while the women sit in the midst of an incredible 12 match win streak.
“By the time you get into these big tournaments, it’s very likely that the teams are of equal skillsets, so it’s really anybody’s game.”
Only two weeks into their seasons, the men’s and women’s polo teams are already off to a strong start. Both teams are on winning streaks — four games for the men’s team, and two games for the women’s team.
The dynamic father-daughter duo of head coach David Eldredge ’81 and junior Emma Eldredge have guided the Red to back-to-back national titles.
For the second time in two years, the Cornell women’s polo team won the national championship. Seeded first overall in the national tournament hosted by the UConn, Cornell defeated Cal Poly along with Texas A&M en route to its 15th national title.
After winning Northeast Regional titles in Ithaca, both the Cornell men’s and women’s polo teams are making their final preparations before a trip to nationals this week in Connecticut. The event, hosted by the University of Connecticut in Storrs, begins April 5 and culminates with the championship games on Saturday.
Both the Cornell men’s and women’s polo teams emerged victorious at the Northeast Intercollegiate Regional Championships during this past weekend in Ithaca.
