The commanding win will send Cornell into its bye week on a high note after a dominant weekend.
Cornell needs to win both games to keep its chances of securing an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament alive.
“It’s frustrating. We had opportunities that we didn’t capitalize on. It was a tight game.”
Despite the loss, out of town results led to Cornell clinching a first-round bye in the ECAC playoffs.
The Red jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first period, but allowed four unanswered goals before equalizing late in the second and forcing overtime.
“You don’t win many games when you play that way. We were fortunate.”
“We took it personally last year and it’s gonna be a battle out there.”
Seven skaters scored, 13 registered points, and nine had multiple points as Cornell completed a six-point weekend.
Cornell used a solid defensive effort and three goals from defensemen to get past the Engineers.
The Red is standing at third in the ECAC and will look to grab all six points against two teams that sit toward the bottom of the conference.
