Following a walkout organized by the student-led Coalition for Mutual Liberation, protesters disrupted the career fair through noise and chants, including “F*ck you, Boeing.” While I did not attend the protest, I co-sign their sentiment and support the student mandate to support a ceasefire in Gaza and divest from weapons manufacturers that support the ongoing war in Gaza. When it comes to Boeing, it’s personal.
Most Cornell students live simultaneously in two realities: one where they are aware that American missiles are being used in one of the most repugnant acts of ethnic cleansing in human history, where every day brings new stories of mothers forced collect the scattered remains of their infant children in plastic bags; and another where they are pursuing a lucrative career that will allow them to live comfortably in the most powerful nation on Earth after graduation.
We are inspired by our students’ principled call for divestment from businesses that profit from war and the perpetuation of massacres across the globe, most recently in Gaza.
