Students from across the university can now minor in data science, allowing a greater subset of students to gain important quantitative and analytical skills in an increasingly data-driven world.
The Department of Asian Studies launched the Global Asia Studies minor this past May to allow students to explore more research interests.
As a response to the emerging phenomenon of mass migration, Cornell’s Einaudi Center launched a migration minor as part of an initiative to “draw students outside of their major fields and to extend their knowledge beyond a single country,” according to the program website.
This semester, Cornell will establish a new minor that aims to break down the divide between science and the general public.
From exploring planets beyond our solar system to researching exterrestrial life, Cornell’s new undergraduate minor in astrobiology, to be debuted next semester, will allow students interested in both astronomy and biology to study the “origins of life and life existing beyond the Earth,” according to Prof. Nikole Lewis, astronomy.
