Over 160 years ago, Senator Justin Morrill implemented a new law that would propel universities like Cornell into powerhouses of success. But in 2023, this has failed our University, universities across the country and our working class. We need something new.
While the University starts to take action toward addressing its history of dispossession, some students and faculty question the school’s true willingness to provide support to indigenous students.
Some of the demands includes renaming of Morrill Hall and returning University land in Ithaca that isn’t “immediately utilized for educational purposes.”
