The complaint was lodged by a former physics Ph.D. student who previously accused Patil’s advisor Prof. Mukund Vengalattore, physics, of sexual assault.
“To any objective person, substantive justice has been denied in that case,” Prof. Kevin Clermont, law, told The Sun.
Nearly a decade ago — long before he claimed Cornell exerted bias in not admitting students to his lab, unfairly denied him tenure and continues to violate a court order by not restarting the tenure review process — Prof. Mukund Vengalattore, physics, was seen by colleagues as a vital hire for the University.
Cornell suspended Prof. Mukund Vengalattore, physics, without pay on June 1, one day after the professor asked a court to hold the University in contempt and six months after a tenure review process that a judge said was “flawed, secretive, unfair.”
It is rare for a court to vacate a university’s tenure decision.
