Cornellians have once again been chosen for the Millennium Fellowship, a partnership between the Millennium Campus Network and the United Nations Academic Impact initiative. The 15 students will each work on independent projects targeted towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, including improving equality, education and health and reducing waste.
Marvel fans may have noticed a brief scene in the recent hit film Captain Marvel featuring an alien language. The language, called Torfan, was created by two Cornell Ph.D candidates in the linguistics program, Ryan Hearn grad and Joseph Rhyne grad.
A team of Cornell researchers is collecting “thousands of stories of resistance” in the form of artifacts to shed light on part of America’s troubled past.
Backyard, a Cornell program that assists students with extracurricular projects, was launched at eHub on Feb. 23. Tina He ’19 and Maya Frai ’20 founded Backyard to help other Cornell students jumpstart their projects and provide guidance along the way. The six-week long program, which requires an application, helps students with side-projects by helping them organize and find resources to create a concrete plan. “Think of it as a side-project incubator that helps people discover their passion, one that helps your personal and professional growth, that could also bring an impact,” He said.
