Cornell was named 17th in the country by the 2022 rankings for the U.S. News and World Report, released on Monday.
There are so many other issues Cornell could and should be focusing on, especially in the middle of a global pandemic. Focusing on changing the number next to our name on a list is definitely not one of them.
The U.S. News and World Report dropped Cornell in its rankings for the third straight year.

My obsession with chai began a few years ago as I began searching for more palatable alternatives to coffee, which I still struggle to enjoy without the aid of unhealthy amounts of sugar and half-and-half. A few weeks ago, just as I ran out of chai mix a friend brought from home, I lamented to another friend about Manndibles’ decision to switch its chai halfway through the semester. Naturally, and given the fact that she is an editor at The Sun, she suggested I test out all of the other options on and around campus. So here I am, with a list! Readily prepared chai in the U.S. consists of variations on the following combination: black tea, sugar, milk and warming spices.
“Whether Cornell’s agricultural programs contribute research, species hybridization, or innovative sustainable practices, there are endless opportunities for people of all experience levels to get involved.”
Cornell’s SC Johnson College of Business was once again named the United States’ 15th best business school, according to U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings released on Tuesday.
Correction appended. Cornell Law will once again be the United States’ 13th top law school, according to a leaked copy of the U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings posted yesterday on Above the Law, a well-known legal blog. Every year, U.S. News — which is best known for its annual ranking of undergraduate schools — scores 192 law schools on the basis of selectivity, post-graduation placement success, faculty resources, bar passage and peer and professional assessment scores, according to the survey’s website. While maintaining its membership to the exclusive “Top-14” — a group of schools historically placed at the top of U.S. News’ report — Cornell Law still ranks below the four Ivies that also offer a J.D. program: Yale, Harvard, Columbia and The University of Pennsylvania. This year, Cornell placed between Northwestern and Georgetown — and six spots behind Penn, its closest Ivy competitor.
Cornell is the 19th best university in the world and 11th best university in the United States, according to the World University Ranking 2019 by The Times Higher Education. Cornell is also ranked the last among the Ivy League by U.S. News, taking the 16th spot on the national list.
In the words of the Wall Street Journal, the “rankings emphasize how well a college will prepare students for life after graduation.”
Individual programs within the University received rankings as well, with Cornell ranking seventh in the nation for business and 10th for engineering.
