Sailing had top three finishes at the Women’s ACC Final and the David Lee Arnoff Trophy.
For the first time in program history, Cornell sailing qualified for the Coed ACC Open Finals.
Sailing begins the season on top, placing first in four of five regattas so far.
Two juniors used their strong bond to finish in the top-10 of nationals.
“It was really just a positive regatta for us because the sailors were really supportive of each other and really enthusiastic to watch their teammates sail,” said assistant coach Charlie Knape. “But everyone got the chance to experience some success as well, and this regatta does get pretty good competition. We really considered this weekend a team effort.”
“As a team, we’re fortunate to feel and face adversity,” Lior Lavie said. “It shows a lot about our determination, our work ethics, and dealing with pressure. All six athletes that were with me over there- I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
“It always gets the morale up,” Lior Lavie said. “During practice, we emphasize the foundations and the collective effort of the team. When someone is having individual success, it is a reflection of the entire team and the hard work we put in.”
“I am excited by the challenge and motivated by the athletes,” Lavie said. “I couldn’t be more happy than where I am right now with where the team is and all of the support around us.”
“You have to get hit on your head a few times in order to reevaluate and rethink,” said Lavie. “Knowing these athletes, we are on the right track. We need to go through these moments in order to get to where we want to be at the end of the season.”
For the third straight year, the Red women’s sailing earned the title of Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association champion.
