Head Coach Michael Huyghue ‘83 took over a program that had won one game in its past two seasons and doubled that win total in his first year at the helm.
After only winning once in the two prior seasons, this year has been a step in the right direction under the management of new head coach Michael Huyghue ’83.
Most notably, Cornell held the Spartans to only 76 yards on the ground after struggling with run defense all season.
Cornell was dealt an exasperating loss on their home field, falling to the Quakers by a final score of 41-0.
Despite looks on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, Cornell could not string it all together and ultimately fell to the Griffins by a final score of 27-9.
Quarterbacks Max Spero and Charles Snajdr combined for five costly interceptions against a Navy defense which allowed only 91 passing yards all game.
Sprint Football (1-0 CSFL) took on the Molloy Lions (0-1 CSFL) on Saturday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. It was a game of firsts –– for Molloy, it was its first sprint football game in program history, and for the Red, it marked the debut of head coach Michael Huyghue ’83 and starting quarterback junior Max Spero. The Red welcomed Molloy to the sport with an awe-inspiring, 53-7 victory. After a combined record of 1-12 over the past two seasons, Cornell was in desperate need of a change and found it through Huyghue. Under Huyghue’s new regime, the offense and defense were firing on all cylinders.
The newfound offensive flair was evident in the second quarter where the Red outscored Molloy 30-0.
