In this column, I will be bringing my experience as an example of how staff and faculty at Cornell can mistreat and mislead students trying to get SDS accommodations.
Largely virtual classes and work increases accessibility for some Cornell students with disabilities while posing new challenges for others.
As a result of the diverse conditions and needs of disabled students, accommodations may or may not change when classes become digital, depending on each given student.
“The inclusion piece, I think, is the harder piece, and that’s the culture work,” Winfield said. Quoting attorney Verna Myers, Winfield added that “Diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance.”
