Lee, who graduated from Cornell with a PhD. in agricultural economics, passed away at the age of 97.
Taiwan, like most postcolonial countries, still struggles to challenge the global hierarchy of designing and manufacturing.
“The purpose of night market is to be able to show Cornell what Taiwanese culture is like in a comfortable setting,” said Ryan Chen ’21, cultural chair of CTAS.
Tsai Ing-Wen is the second Cornell graduate to become the president of Taiwan. The first was Lee Teng-hui Ph.D. ’68, who served as president of Taiwan and the chair of the Kuomintang party from 1988 to 2000.
