CUPD has identified a potential student suspect for the Jan. 21 vandalism of the A.D. White statue with pro-Palestinian messages.
“Divest from death” and “occupation=death” were spray painted in dark red on the Andrew Dickson White statue on the Arts Quad on the first day of the spring 2025 semester.
On the first day of the fall semester, activists smashed Day Hall’s front door glass and spray-painted “Israel bombs, Cornell pays” along the entrance.
The “KIDNAPPED” posters affixed to poles and utility boxes on the Ithaca Commons have been removed after they were vandalized with anti-Israel graffiti, including one that said “Israel is Hitler.”
In a Nov. 9 press release, the Student Assembly condemned a recent act of vandalism allegedly associated with the S.A. President Patrick Kuehl ’24.
Various campus demonstrations expressing viewpoints on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict occurred this week, including anti-Israel graffiti, a rally in support of Palestine and a Jewish community gathering.
Ithaca police arrested a suspect on multiple counts of fourth degree criminal mischief as a hate crime related to a recent spree of anti-Semitic and racist vandalism.
A number of Ithaca businesses, as well as five Cornell students, were targeted by white supremacist vandalism on Oct. 26.
The statue could be seen with the red spray-painted words for under two hours.
Damage to cars ranged from upward-bent license plates to snapped–and even stolen–windshield wipers.
