The Sunday event — which coincided with Ada Lovelace Day, which celebrates the contributions of one of history’s first computer programmers — was organized by librarians Selena Bryant of Mann Library, and Wendy Wilcox of Olin Library.
This “Edit-a-Thon” was part of an international campaign to improve coverage of female artists, writers and performers. Cornell participated in the movement by hosting the Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon in Olin Library on International Women’s Day.
Cornell students and Ithaca residents gathered to enhance Wikipedia entries on topics related to art, feminism and women in general in an “Edit-a-thon” hosted in Olin Library and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art.
Cornell Library, in collaboration with Art+Feminism, will be hosting its second annual Edit-a-thon in several locations across campus on March 11.
“While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not,” the website said. “Content is skewed by the lack of female participation.”
