A Nor’easter is expected to hit Ithaca and surrounding areas from Monday to Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Due to an ongoing winter storm, the Ithaca campus will be closed from Thursday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. to Friday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
After a winter storm warning was issued by Tompkins County Monday, Cornellians prepare for snow and sleet.
As thousands of Cornellians flocked back to Ithaca for the spring semester, the nor’easter that brought heavy snow across the East Coast this week hindered students’ travel plans — creating move-in hurdles beyond testing and quarantine as students drove through heavy snow to get to campus.
Cornell announced the second snow day of the academic year — after some had already made it up the slope, arrived on central campus and sat through their first classes of the day.
Zhang was one of many students who took to social media to recount their troubles with traveling back to Ithaca on Sunday. The snowstorm, which started Sunday and continued into Monday, dropped nearly a foot of snow in Ithaca.
While some students traversed campus in snow boots, sleds and skis, other Cornellians scrambled to secure last-minute lodging or alternative travel arrangements.
