University Leadership to Make ‘Special Announcement’ Today

The Cornell Board of Trustees will hold a special session on campus today and, following the session, make a “special announcement” to the community.

The University’s leadership will make this announcement at a press conference from noon to 12:30 in Myron Taylor Hall. Local and out-of-town media members journalists were invited to attend the conference in person and remotely.

Cornell held an identical event — which started at noon and was held in the same place — on Sept. 30, 2014. At this event, late President Elizabeth Garrett was announced the 13th and first female president of Cornell.

Since Garrett died in early March of colon cancer, the University has been led by Acting President and Provost Michael Kotlikoff and Interim President Hunter R. Rawlings III.

This “special announcement” comes approximately half a year after the presidential search committee was formed and began seeking input from the Cornell community. Cornell Trustee Jan Rock Zubrow ’77 heads the committee.
