While films like “John Wick” and “Taken” featured stars who had done action for a while, Bob Odenkirk is best known for his comedic roles. As part of a college press round table, he shared insights into his transition to the action genre.
It’s not every day that you get to sit down with a Cornell student who has just written a generation-defying piece of work.
While disruption has become the soil for new patterns and rhythms to take form, Groton paints, sketches and draws as if nothing’s changed; like the famous lo-fi hip-hop girl animated by Juan Pablo Machado who writes endlessly in spite of everything going on around her.
It is evident that faith plays a key role in defining music for Massillon — for him, while it might be tempting to lose faith or be upset at God in this time or be frustrated, he sees it only as a way to draw closer to faith and to what anchors him.
“There are so many things I’m disappointed and sad that didn’t happen because of a virus. The list is too long to name honestly.” Over the phone, she pauses in quiet remembrance of the commencements, weddings and events that never came to pass. “But this suffering isn’t being wasted. And I can show I have hope through music.”
Cinema has been my escape for as long as I can remember, and I want to recreate that space in some way, for myself and hopefully for others. Perhaps that’s another reason why I linger after the movies: I never feel ready to leave.
I’ve been taught to not post too much, to only release stills of my work when they’re completed and to never post photos of myself or friends if they are not aesthetically pleasing or professional enough.
For those quarantined now, they’ll no doubt find Lecrae’s latest more than relevant for when the shackles are taken off, and they’ll have no other response but to dance.
The film can, should and will be judged on its merits come its May 29th release date — not all is irredeemable.
