Cornell cross country competed at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this past weekend.
The Red begin its championship portion of the season, racing in the IC4A/ECAC Championship and Pre-Nationals.
On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Red traveled to Boston to race in the Battle in Beantown Invitational. The men’s race was 8,000 meters, and the women’s race was 6,000 meters. In the men’s race, senior Rhys Hammond crossed the finish line first for Cornell. He finished with a time of 23:56, placing fourth overall out of 142 total runners.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, Cornell will be facing Colgate in its 2023 Homecoming game. Despite not playing in the same conference, the Red and the Raiders, formerly known as the Red Raiders until 2001, are very familiar with each other. The rivals first squared off against each other on Sept. 26, 1896, just over 127 years ago.
Cornell won both the men’s and women’s competitions convincingly at the Yellowjacket Invitational.
