First inspired to public service during her time at Cornell, Lisa Mandelblatt ’86 will run in the 2018 congressional race in defense of women’s reproductive rights.
Melissa Hall, Aryeal Jackson and Laura Lewis all have stressed the need to create affordable housing and improve communication between the city and its residents.
Prof. Aaron Sachs, history, adopted a slightly more optimistic outlook, stressing that the historic fight for justice among activists will continue after this election.
A much higher percentage of students surveyed — nearly 70 percent — plan to vote in the general election, or have already done so via absentee ballot, than the 40 percent that said they voted in the primary.
Twelve students indicated that the candidate they intend to vote for has changed since the beginning of the presidential debates last month. A former Trump supporter said he has since realized that “Trump is not a viable presidential model.”
“This is the first year our identity is being represented on it, and I am prepared to create resolutions with the assistance and approval of the community,” said Mayra Valadez ’18.
Strong is most known for her portrayal of SNL characters, “The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started A Conversation With at A Party” and Kyra from “The Girlfriends Talk Show.”
The New York Federation said it was “happy to report” that a majority of new leadership supported reinstating the Cornellians.
Fifty-four women, 44 men and one gender-nonconforming respondent participated in the survey.
“We at the Federation would like to say goodbye to Eli Nachmany, who has resigned as Chairman in order to focus on getting our party’s nominee elected in November,” the NY Federation wrote in a post on its Facebook page Friday.
