“Overall, it’s increased reporting from everyone on campus,” Cornell University Police Chief David Honan told The Sun. Honan attributed some of the uptick in reporting numbers to increased data from campus security authorities, who are obligated to inform CUPD when violations or crimes occur.
Suzanne Walsh, whose term will begin on August 1, will be steering the school through its accreditation and financial struggles. Since the college was placed on probation in February, it has appealed the decision and will remain accredited until it faces the appeals committee.
On June 18, Quinton Lucas J.D. ’09 was elected mayor of Kansas City, Missouri. Cornell University temporarily revoked all chaplain privileges for Reverend Carsten Martensen following an allegation against him of sexual abuse of a minor. Martensen has worked in campus ministries for Cornell University and Ithaca College since 2007, and served as chaplain at both institutions.
At first, the email appeared to be a reply to previous emails— opening the email revealed a blue box with instructions to “display trusted message.” However, unsuspecting Cornellians who opened the email quickly found out that it was not what it seemed.
