I’ve always liked watching movies alone; I haven’t had trouble going to the theaters alone since before I turned 18. But for a time earlier this year, I’d never done it quite so much, or in quite such a specific way.
I’ve since listened to each song dozens more times, described the album concept to my disinterested nine-year-old brother and lauded Cain on an ill-fated FaceTime with my ex; maybe it was a case of right place right time, but the album had a substantial impact on me.
As someone who is all three of those, the announcement of a David Lynch series at the Cornell Cinema was enough to make me giddy. But who is David Lynch, why is he so beloved and where can the less weird among us get started with his work?
