The Cornell men’s lacrosse team remains one of the most storied programs in the NCAA. The team has won three national championships (1971, 1976, 1977) and participated in the NCAA tournament a total of 30 times. Notable alumni include Mike French ’76 MPS ’78, Eamon McEneaney ’77 and Rob Pannell ’13. The Red has won 31 Ivy League titles, the most recent coming in 2023. Led by head coach Connor Buczek ’15, this season’s squad is captained by senior attackman CJ Kirst, fifth year attackman Michael Long, senior defenseman Jack Follows and junior midfielder Christopher Davis.

The Red’s three late goals in the fourth were enough to best Albany.
This Saturday, men’s lacrosse will have its first game since its championship bout against Maryland.
A valiant 4th quarter comeback effort was not enough to end Cornell’s 45 year wait for another national championship, as Cornell fell 9-7 to Maryland in the title game on Monday.

“The fact that we are where we are is due in large part to the guys that we have in the room and the tradition and the precedent that’s been set at a place like Cornell,” Buczek said. “We can start talking about fate and destiny, but it’s a lot of hard work, a lot of perseverance, a lot of resiliency and great leadership that’s got us where we are.”
Cornell was strong in all phases of the game to top Rutgers in the NCAA semifinal, 17-10.
