“Pittsburgh is definitely going to be a tough opponent,” Harris said. “But we feel like we have what it takes to beat them.”
“This team is everything. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished,” May said. “We’re very disappointed not to have won the Ivy League, but we’re hoping to make some noise in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.”
No. 16 Men’s soccer (12-2-2, 5-2 Ivy) closed out its regular season schedule with a convincing 4-1 senior night victory over Columbia (1-12-1, 1-5-1 Ivy) on Saturday at Berman Field. In the 13th minute, sophomore forward Alex Harris opened the scoring. A ball on the ground from junior midfielder Daniel Samways came all the way through the box, untouched by Columbia defenders. Harris took a one-time shot and found the corner to give Cornell a lead it would maintain for the rest of the game.
“We’ve had a great start to the season, and I’m very excited for what’s to come,” Melly said. “Our goal is to win the Ivy League and make a deep run into the tournament, and I think we’ve set ourselves up well for success.”
“We have a tremendous group of guys — … a true brotherhood off the field.”
“I’m very proud of the season we’ve had so far. It’s going to come down to conference play, and we’re heading in the right direction.”
