Coach Profile: Jim Knowles '87

Jim Knowles’ ’87 two biggest accomplishments since returning to the sidelines of Schoellkopf Field in 2004 have been making the stadium one of the toughest places to play in the Ivy League, and shoring up a Cornell defense which had slipped to one of the worst in the nation.
The Red is 12-4 at home — and 9-2 in the last two seasons — under Knowles. Much of this success has been due to a stingy defense, especially against the run. When Knowles took over, the squad’s run defense jumped from 104th of 121 D-1 AA, to second in the nation two years later.
