And then, at the drop of a hat, the slump was over.
This past Saturday night, the Cornell men’s hockey team, which had scored just two goals in its last three games and barely over two goals a game on the season, shocked the Lynah Faithful and the Vermont Catamounts by lighting the lamp five times.
And much of this offense was produced by a new line for the Red — senior Dan Svoboda, junior Denis Ladouceur and sophomore Matt McRae.
Ladouceur scored two goals, including the game winner, and also garnered an assist, while Svoboda tossed in a pair of helpers as well.
“It feels good to be scoring again, and I think it takes a lot of the pressure off the rest of the guys that have been taking a lot of the weight,” Ladouceur said.
