Subterranean Style

Print More

Somewhere between middle school and freshman year of college names like the Gap and J.Crew became taboo to utter in reply to the inquiry,”Where’d you get that?” From what I’ve observed, it seems to be due to the higher frequency of incidents relating to two individuals decked out like twins in lecture. The ultimate experience in personal cheapening possibly.

But, although I don’t condone basing an entire wardrobe out of cookie-cutter retail chains, I wouldn’t shop anywhere else for my inconspicuous basics.

Reason One: Because these stores mass produce enormous quantities of your basic jeans-‘n’-T-shirt genre for the majority of America, they’ve mastered fit, style, and laundering endurance to a T.

Reason Two: Mass Production also allows these apparel barons to offer consumers the trendiest colors of the season (thank you high turnover) at an affordable price (Gap claims to be sweatshop free).

I, for one, do not need a hip name on the inside of my tee to feel comfortable in my skin. I feel just fine with an identical tee I payed $12 for instead of $30. The bottom line: Save a little cash to invest in style-makers rather than brand name bank-breakers.
