Thurston Bridge Closure Extended Six Weeks

Print More

The Thurston Avenue Bridge will continue to be closed to vehicles and pedestrians for several more weeks, the City of Ithaca announced today.
Connections between the new arches and the existing bridge need to be completed before the bridge reopens, which will take approximately six weeks, depending on the weather.
One-way traffic should resume in the middle of November. A fixed date will be issued later.
University Avenue will continue to be open for eastbound traffic, East Avenue will be open for southbound traffic and Forest Home Drive will remain closed except for deliveries and emergency service vehicles.
TCAT buses will continue on their current adjusted bus routes.
The bridge is also scheduled to be closed from March 1 to Aug. 16 so that bridge abutments, approach ramps and the bridge deck can be replaced.
More information concerning the status of the bridge construction can be found at www.cityofithaca.org, www.tcatbus.com and www.aff.cornell.edu/ specialconditions/campusconstruction/.
