Mayor Carolyn Peterson visited the Student Assembly meeting last Thursday to speak on service and philanthropy as well as improving town-gown relations. Among the issues S.A. members asked Peterson were the new noise ordinance and campus safety.
Some S.A. members also met with Doris Davis, vice provost for admissions and enrollment about Cornell’s early decision policy and recent changes at Harvard and Princeton to early admission. The discussion included admission statistics and enrollment diversity.
Student Trustee Mao Ye grad attended the S.A. meeting to discuss a possible “student’s list” that would recognize exceptional teaching by professors in the classroom.
The S.A. passed Resolution 13, which requires all S.A. members representing a specific college to meet with their respective deans two or more times a semester. The resolution aims to connect the needs and desires of students with their respective administrators.
Additionally, President David J. Skorton will be attending the S.A. meeting tomorrow, the S.A. Executive Board announced yesterday.
