Drug Bust Uncovers Pot, Cocaine, AK-47; Three People Charged

A significant amount of drugs and an assault rifle were recovered Wednesday morning after police executed multiple narcotics search warrants in Ithaca and elsewhere in the region.Police seized a total of 21 pounds of marijuana, 13 grams of cocaine and an AK-47 assault rifle — among other items — from the locations, Ithaca Police Chief Ed Vallely said at a meeting of the Ithaca City Administration Committee Wednesday night. Three people were charged in connection with the drug investigation, which had been in the works for five months, Vallely said. The search warrants were executed in the 500 block of South Albany Street, the 100 block of Grandview Court and the 400 block of Spencer Road in Ithaca. There were also two locations in Lansing. Ithaca Police worked with the New York State Police, Tompkins County Sheriff and Groton Police Department in the investigation.
