The badminton team earned the Ivy crown last Saturday after charging past opponents in a multi-round tournament. The Red’s first place finish was followed by Yale in second place and Columbia in third.

In each round of the Yale-hosted tournament, two teams faced off against each other in 11 matches featuring men and women’s singles, men and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

After one of the Red’s female players fell ill before the tournament, the team had to forfeit one women’s double match. Despite the setback, the team managed strong victories over its opponents.

In the first match against Brown, Cornell claimed an 8-3 victory. The team next took on Penn, steamrolling the Quakers for an 8-0 win. In the final, the Red played the host Bulldogs and fought for a 6-3 victory. Since Cornell had already earned the win, the final two matches of the Yale game were not played.
