Down by two in the fifth set, the women’s volleyball kicked it into high gear on Saturday and managed to pull out the win thanks to some key plays made by the squad, especially by freshman hitter Maddy Sroufe, senior libero Natasha Rowland and sophomore middle hitter Macey Wilson. With another Columbia point meaning a loss for the Red, the team stood ready to receive the serve from Columbia’s Cassie Wes. After a successful start to the play, Sroufe put in the final kill that would bring Cornell back in the game. With precise and composed serving for Rowland, Sroufe put in a few more kills alongside freshman hitter Emily Wemhoff, who earned a point as well. With only two points until the win, Wilson put in the last two kills, securing victory for the Red.
