Approximately 150 Cornellians gathered to discuss the current status of sexual violence at the University on Wednesday, following speeches by Judicial Administrator Mary Beth Grant J.D. ’88 and Mary Opperman, vice president for human resources and safety services, on current sexual violence policies.

The University is actively working to address the issue of sexual assault, especially through the Council on Sexual Violence Prevention, Grant said.

The council consists of students, faculty and staff and aims to reduce all experiences of unwanted sexual touching, according to Opperman, who is a co-chair of the council.
