Cornell Career Services will be hosting a virtual spring career fair on Wednesday, giving Cornellians a chance to meet and speak with prospective employers.
Over 100 companies from a wide range of fields, such as government, engineering, education and consulting, will be in attendance, including Intel, Lockheed Martin and PepsiCo. Some of the participating employers have attended the Engineering and Tech fair and the Government and Nonprofit fair in previous years.
At the event, students will find information about internships, co-ops and entry-level job positions, as well as benefits provided by employers.
The Career Fair can be accessed via Handshake, a web-based career networking site targeted towards specific university users. Employers will increase recognition while Cornell students will be introduced to a wide variety of organizations. Some employers will collect resumes from participating students for future job openings.
The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. and companies will host both one-on-one sessions and group sessions that students can register for on Handshake. Many organizations also participate in the University’s On-Campus Recruiting Program, through which students can interview with employers for both internships and post-graduate job positions on Cornell’s campus.
In the fall, Cornell hosted two consecutive University-wide virtual career fairs, with the first oriented towards STEM careers and the second for all industries. The Industrial and Labor Relations Career Fair, Real Estate Career Fair and Hospitality Career Fair also occurred during the fall semester.
In March, the College of Architecture, Art and Planning Spring Career Fair, Business Career Fair and Social Justice Career Fair are slated to occur.
Cornell has held virtual career fairs in past years. In 2020, the University hosted the event using Brazen, an online career fair platform. Students reported glitches and video call disconnections that Brazen was unable to resolve during the session.
Prior to the pandemic, the university hosted in-person career fairs at Barton Hall, the last such event recorded in 2019.
