About one in 10 students at Cornell come from families whose income places them in the top one percent, while about one in nine Cornell students come from families in the bottom 40 percent of income.
Choi’s medical background is both academic and clinical. Before moving to Weill Cornell Medicine in 2013, Choi was a professor at Harvard Medical School and chief of pulmonary and critical care medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Boston hospital ranked eighth best in the country by U.S. News and World Report in 2013.
Feeney’s generosity, combined with his desire to avoid recognition, led The Irish Times to bill him “the anti-Trump” and Forbes Magazine to call him “the James Bond of philanthropy.”
In a departure from their occasionally vitriolic campaign rhetoric, both candidates accepted their respective outcomes with grace.
Plumb, along with prominent Ithaca and Cornell Democrats, has laced his rhetoric with no-holds-barred attacks on Reed, calling him “literally one of the worst people in the United States Congress” at a Democratic Unity Rally at Cornell Thursday.
Another point of pride for the mayor is that under his budget, over half of one- and two-family households will pay less in Ithaca property taxes in 2017 than they did in 2016.
“I have an Ithaca shotgun, actually,” Plumb said. “It’s a beautiful piece of machinery. And that might not make sense to someone who doesn’t have guns.”

“We don’t have the adequate staffing that is appropriate to serve different stations,” said alderperson Cynthia Brock (D-1st Ward). Alderperson Donna Fleming (D-3rd Ward) added that there is “plenty of need” for these four additional people.
