Snow closing policy scrutinized

Students, faculty and staff began circulating an online petition yesterday to criticize the way Cornell officials executed the University’s closing this past Wednesday. The letter urges Cornell to re-examine “the University’s policies concerning extreme-weather closures and the way it carries out those policies.”


Banfi's Opens After Remodeling

After undergoing a six-week renovation process that began in December, Taverna Banfi in the Statler Hotel, formerly known as Ristorante Banfi, re-opened last week. According to Statler employees, patrons have been pleased with the newly remodeled restaurant.


New Noyes Opens On West Campus

Hundreds of students gathered on West Campus yesterday afternoon as the new Noyes Community and Recreation Center celebrated its grand opening.

Members of Cornell Catering offered students samples of new food and drink items that will be sold in Noyes’ new convenience store, Cosmo’s. Building staff also offered tours of the facility and highlighted new entertainment options including a climbing wall and an air hockey table. Many students were impressed with the changes from the old building.


Two New Storefronts Open in Collegetown

Despite many recent vacancies in Collegetown, two new businesses hope to reinvigorate the area.

The Mango Café and City Style Salon and Sake Bar, both located on Eddy Street, offer different ways for Cornell students to enjoy Ithaca nightlife.

Ithacans, Students Rally for Healthcare

The normally quiet Ithaca Commons was crowded by dozens of Ithaca residents and local college students rallying support for a single-payer healthcare system in the state of New York yesterday afternoon. After the event on the Commons, supporters marched up Buffalo Street to Bailey Hall and continued to rally until the start of the gubernatorial debate between Eliot Spitzer and John Faso.
