First-place finished by three Cornell gymnasts led the Red to a strong finish.
The Red is cruising at the right time heading into the Ivy Classical Championships.
“The seniors this year carry the team a lot,” said sophomore Amy Shen. “They all compete a lot and contribute to the team scores … This current senior class is such a powerhouse.”
“The legacy I hope to leave this team is that the hard work and attitude you put into any experience is exactly what you will get out of it.”
“Our goal as a team is to improve at every meet and compete with confidence and consistency.”
On the road to start the season, the Red kicked things off with a pair of tough losses.
Cornell recovered from a string of disappointing conference losses to down the Green, and then the Crimson, by 3-1 margins — reviving expectations for volleyball’s season, now ranked third in the Ivy League.
“Our seniors are stepping up and having great seasons, which is particularly rewarding as many have overcome significant injury and illness issues in their careers.”
Senior goaltender Meghan Kennedy turned in a stellar performance, but two late Columbia goals doomed the Red’s hopes for a win to start Ivy League play.
“The team struggled with establishing possession and moving the ball out of our defensive third, especially in the second half, so that is something we will look to improve upon heading into Ivies.”
