Through Cornell AppDev, one of the College of Engineering’s project teams, students are designing and launching apps to solve problems within the Cornell community.
Students across Cornell’s 34 project teams reflect on their experiences using engineering to solve real-world problems alongside their peers.
Cornell AppDev’s newest product will connect students with campus media.
Cornell Project Team AppDev is developing a new CourseGrab application that should be out in time for pre-enroll (April 13th).
“It is definitely something that was needed,” Michael Ferguson ’21 said. “It was eye-opening as to how many classes were offered. And just being able to see the times they’re available and times they are closed.”
Tina He ’19, part of project team Cornell AppDev, became the project lead for student-made fitness app Uplift. Alongside her team members, He developed Uplift, designed to help Cornell students make staying healthy on campus enjoyable.
“Ithaca Transit is an end-to-end navigation solution that combines the best transit features available into one app,” said Matt Barker ’19.
The winning apps at the Bits on Our Minds expo were the fitness app UpLift, a bus system aid called Ithaca Transit and CU Here, an app for finding campus events.
“While Cornell excels at aspects of design, there was definitely a void with digital product design,” said Sahil Khoja ’19. “This course serves as a foundation for product design.”
