The Faculty Senate’s decision to remove the Dean List’s distinction elicits positive reactions from students across all colleges.
The University is phasing out the Dean’s List designations starting for the current first-year class, with the elimination effective for all students by Spring 2026.
“While we understand this is a disappointment to some, this is the most equitable solution,” wrote Associate Dean of CALS Prof. Don Viands.
This is a change from last year, when the college offered placement on the Dean’s List based on a multi-tiered credit system, according to Duncan Bill, Director of Administration and College Registrar of Arts and Sciences.
