Ghouls and Games: Halloween Video Game Picks

As the weather gets colder and the nights get longer, video games are a great activity for a night in. Halloween is right around the corner, so it’s no secret that students are prepping for the season and thinking about their spooky activities at the end of the month.

Arcane: A Unanimous Masterpiece

“Arcane” is seminal in its resounding contribution to mature animated series, a genre lamentably neglected by the Western world. It is a luminary in its field and will undoubtedly prompt studios to attempt to replicate its “formula,” which will likely yield a slew of soulless cashgrabs that fail to recreate the show’s methodical writing.

Sexism Within the Video Game Industry

The problem of sexual harrassment and discrimination in the industry has run rampant for years; Activision is just the flag bearer. However, despite how fun the original Mortal Kombat was and still is, it lacked the defining aspect that, to many fans, defines Mortal Kombat: gore.

The Rise of ‘Among Us’

Considering the addictive quality and immersive fun of Among Us, it is evident that this game’s popularity may be a reflection of everyone’s need to destress and forget about the world for a few hours.

DELGADO | CoD: Call Off Discrimination

But still, there is more we can do. No matter where you are — whether playing video games, on campus or elsewhere — you’ll encounter racist incidents like this. It starts with us calling them out and no longer tolerating racist remarks wherever we come upon them, whether behind screens or to your face.

BONO | Starting Over

I think returning to Ithaca when it’s once again safe to do so, as an alum of the school, will feel the same as loading that old New Leaf save file — like I’m living a life that’s no longer mine.
