The Big Red Barn will be closed for the next few days due to repairs, according to Simeon Moss ’73, Cornell press relations office director. A structural component holding the lights fell down on Friday, but no one was injured. While replacing the beam, Cornell repairmen discovered that the structural system supporting the roof was unstable and added braces on Friday and Saturday. Moss said that a structural engineer visited the site yesterday.
“[The closing] is a safety precaution,” Moss said. “They hope to begin repairs as soon as possible. It should only take a few days.”
