Former Cornell Librarian Running Unopposed in Tompkins County Legislature Special Election

Susan Currie, former director of Tompkins County Public Library, is running for County Legislator with voting on Tuesday.
Susette Newberry – Head of Research and Learning Services and the Art Librarian at Olin and Uris Library – continues to help undergraduate and graduate students alike in securing the resources they need to finish the semester from home.
“I thank you for your letter and am pleased to learn that I restored somebody’s faith in education,” White replied in a 1980 letter. “You, on your part, restored mine — by writing a legible and well-constructed letter.”
When students in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning returned to campus this fall, they were greeted with a grand addition to their historic Rand Hall — the completion of the new Mui Ho Fine Arts Library. The new space houses approximately 100,000 volumes of fine arts, design and urban planning materials as well as new spaces for research, computing, instruction and studying, according to an AAP press release.
“Honestly, it felt like stepping into a study space from a college brochure,” said Erin Fleck ’22. “My only complaint with it is that I don’t think I’ll be able to find a seat, since I expect it to be much more crowded than before.”
After doing some research, Gardner noted how she “saw a lot of parallels between [sound and text] and how they often in various points in time influence each other.”
“For the first time, we are enabling students to tell us what materials they need for their courses, which we hope will allow us to better support students who want or need to utilize library resources for their work,” Hines said.
“The World Bewitch’d” is a new exhibit in Kroch Library that explores how popular culture has reinterpreted the meaning of witch-hunting.
The World Bewitch’d, an exhibit about the history of witchcraft, will be open to the public in Kroch Library beginning on Halloween afternoon.
Cornell appointed Gerald R. Beasley on Monday to be the 12th university librarian at Cornell University, where he will oversee a budget of about $64 million and a staff of more than 400 beginning on Aug. 1.
