Michael Sam, the first National Football League player to come out as gay, will deliver a free lecture in Statler Auditorium on Nov. 14, the Cornell University Programming Board announced Thursday. Sam made headlines when he told his teammates that he was gay in 2013, after finishing his career as a college athlete. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2014, and is currently a free agent.
Strong is most known for her portrayal of SNL characters, “The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started A Conversation With at A Party” and Kyra from “The Girlfriends Talk Show.”
“With his growing popularity on SNL, we thought this was the perfect time for him to come,” Diamond said.
Coulier — who played Uncle Joey on the ’90’s sitcom Full House — and Buress — who has acted in Broad City — are scheduled to perform later this semester.
I’ve seen enough florescant-tinged signs over the past few weeks, announcing the imminent arrival of Howie Mandel, that news of the comedian’s scheduled appearance had been seared into my brain. So effective were the highlighter-colored posters, reading “HOWIE IS COMING,” my subconscious had begun to anticipate the return of the Messiah. All I knew was that I didn’t know who this “Howie” character was, but he was coming, and he must be a big freaking deal, because not even Obama advertises with neon paper.
