Along with all the potential toppings I had to create my tasty waffle, I loved the heart-shaped presentation of the waffle on the stick. Although I took the heart-shaped waffle off of the stick to eat it, the waffles were delivered in a delightfully aesthetically pleasing manner.

The USDA Food Guidance System myplate.gov offers comprehensive and individualized diet  suggestions based on age, sex, height, weight and activity level. Myplate.gov works to integrate the five food groups of vegetables, fruits, grains, protein and dairy into everyday diets. “Make half of your plate fruits and vegetables,” “Make half of your grains whole grains” and “Vary your protein routine” are just a few of the recommendations to keep in mind when loading up your plate. Notably, myplate.gov encourages a movement towards healthier and balanced eating that is not about haves and have nots, but rather about the overall, general composition of what is eaten. Must-Have Snacks For Your Dorm

As my first year at Cornell comes to an end, I find myself with a collection of make-shift recipes for snacks and meals that fueled my body over the busy months of the school year. Multiple times, I’ve found myself with a hungry stomach and limited time to fill it, influencing me to look for quick and easy snacks. Below are some of my favorite recipes and snacks that are perfect to make in a limited space and time frame. 

Frozen grapes 

Frozen grapes are a simple and easy snack when you are craving a bit of sweetness but don’t want anything too heavy. Simply buy a pack of grapes or find some in the dining halls, put them in a Ziplock bag and pop them in the freezer. After a couple of hours, they should be ready to eat!

What Cornellians Eat When They Workout: Student Athlete Edition

About a month ago, I was curious about what supplements Cornell students take when they workout. I investigated, finding that the average Cornellian may use pre-workout supplements now and then, but generally does not have a strict diet or supplemental regiment when working out. This time, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into this topic. An intramural soccer champion may be a hell of an athlete, but there is a stark difference between the average intramural Cornell athlete and a Cornell D1 student athlete. I wanted to find out what goes on behind the scenes of D1 athletes.

It is time that I admit the truth. In front of my friends and family, I want to share that I have recently indulged in eating salmon. I, who so proudly was vegetarian for years and years, gave in earlier this year at the sight of Emily Mariko’s salmon-rice-kewpie mayo-sriracha dish. For more than half a decade, I had staunchly committed myself to the vegetarian discipline. I’d learned to forget about the taste of Korean BBQ and learned to cook (and like) alternative forms of protein. Zeus’s BLTease in my opinion, was better than whatever turkey ham option they could have offered.
