Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick ’09 is in “precautionary” quarantine after attending an event with Binghamton mayor Rich David, who tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday. Myrick is not exhibiting symptoms as of Thursday morning.
As Cornell’s shift to online classes and students’ departure from Ithaca continues to impact the local economy, Ithaca mayor Svante Myrick ’09 called for a rent and mortgage freeze on Thursday.
“I never really examined the [government’s] solution,” Myrick said. “My father’s been an addict for 30 years and he’s been arrested multiple times, however the arrests did not stop [his addiction].”
