Defense Propels Cornell Women’s Lacrosse to Cusp of Ivy League Title

Fourteen games into the season and the Red is rolling through what could be one of the greatest seasons in recent memory for the program. The Red won eight straight games to start the season and set the record for the best start to a season in history;, now through 14 games the women have lost only three games. Lead by an outstanding senior class headed by senior co-captains Brittany Marriott and Emily Tripodi, the Red has been able to achieve at a high level all spring, and could be poised to achieve the team’s eventual goal of an Ivy League championship.

In Battle for Ivy League Title, Women’s Lacrosse Faces Off With Penn

The Cornell women’s lacrosse team has undoubtedly had a very successful season, only losing to high-caliber, top-15 teams in Maryland, Syracuse and Princeton. The team has already surpassed its win total from last season and improved its win percentage from .562 to .786, so anything more this year is icing on the cake. But with an Ivy League title at play, the No. 18 Red (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) must defeat No. 14 Penn (11-3, 5-1) on their senior day for a chance to share the title with the Tigers.

Women’s Lacrosse Loses to Princeton, Heads Down Final Stretch of Season Hungry for Ivy Title

The Cornell women’s lacrosse team (10-2, 4-1 Ivy) lost its second game of the season this past Saturday to Princeton (9-3, 4-0 Ivy). Princeton is now the only remaining undefeated team in conference play. The game, which never had more than a two-goal difference, was a hard-fought contest for the Red on the Tigers’ home turf. Going into the game, Cornell knew it would be a close; the Red was ranked for one of the first times all season at No. 20 (18 currently), and the No.

The women’s lacrosse team faced off against three different opponents on the road: Brown, Binghamton and the defending national champions, Maryland. The Red managed to continue its winning streak against its first two opponents, but was unable to topple Maryland, the current top-ranked team in the nation.
