Cornell Graduate Students United mobilized during Friday’s Board of Trustees meeting to demand higher wages and increased University support.
Out of the 971 Black workers over the age of 18 who live in Tompkins County, only 252 make a living wage to support one adult working a full time job.
According to a Tompkins County Workers’ Center press release, the award is given to an “especially egregious offender of workers’ rights and/or the value of labor to our common good.”
