Democrats from Upstate New York feel that the state’s Democratic party left them behind.
“This is a time where everyone should put partisanship aside to enact, at the very least, common-sense measures to protect our citizens,” Mitrano said.
Tracy Mitrano J.D. ’95 will re-run in the 2020 election for representative of New York’s 23rd district. Her announcement comes just a week after her loss to current representative Tom Reed (N.Y.-23).
Some cities are notable for towering skyscrapers, others for offbeat museums or bucolic beauty. But to Tom Reed (R-N.Y.), who represents New York’s 23rd congressional district (including Cornell), Ithaca represents little more than a bastion of lefty extremism. And likewise, Tracy Mitrano, who lost to Reed in yesterday’s midterm election, is little more than an Ithaca outgrowth. In expressing this view, Reed does not pull punches. Look no further than his own campaign ads.
In the election for the 23rd Congressional District in New York, incumbent Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) beat Tracy Mitrano J.D. ’95 by a solid margin. Tompkins County significantly favored Mitrano, who came up short against Reed who has served as House Representative since 2010.
A Cornell alumna, former professor and past IT Director for the University, Mitrano won the primary for New York’s 23rd district.
