Four members of the People Aware Computing Lab have been working on AlertnessScanner, an Android application that utilizes a smartphone’s front-facing camera to assess a user’s alertness levels.
The group officially kicked off its tampon and pad fundraiser last Saturday by distributing eight donation boxes to various bathrooms across Cornell’s campus, hoping to collect pads and tampons for homeless women in Ithaca.
“It is an honor to be able to have a piece played for the whole campus, but I think it more feels like I’m deeply connected to the larger musical culture on campus,” Drake Eshleman ’20 told The Sun.
Although PETA argued that hunting deer is “counterproductive” and “cruel,” the University maintained that this action was necessary to control the deer population in Sapsucker Woods.
With the recent finalization of their design, Voices of African Mothers’ vision of building the school came closer to reality, and brought the NGO closer to achieving its larger mission of developing African nations through the empowerment and education of women and children.
