Acting Chief Dennis Nayor Named New Ithaca Chief of Police

Law enforcement at several levels of government collaborated to arrest Adrian Dove, 48, in Ithaca for a murder that occured across the country, the U.S. Marshal’s Service shared in a press release Wednesday.
Police say the primary suspect, Andre Martin, used a .357 caliber revolver, firing five shots. A search for Martin is ongoing.
Acting Ithaca Police Department Chief Dennis Nayor told reporters that there is nothing that would indicate any current public threat. The shooter and suspect are both male, Nayor said. The suspect has been taken into custody and the victim was transported via ambulance.

At around 2:21 a.m., a suspect ran towards the victim while displaying a “‘large machete’ type knife” and demanding property. The Ithaca Police Department responded to the incident around the 100 block of Oak Avenue, and reported that the victim was not physically injured.
As of Thursday at 3 p.m., the NYSEG website reported over 3,000 customers without power in Tompkins County.
